The few streets that make up this pleasant little village were once on the banks of a powerful river (which gave the town it´s name) and formed the southern border of the Kingdom of Valencia. At various times belonging to Murcia, Castille and Aragon, Agüies has had a bit of a chequered history and very little is known about the origin of the spa that brought the village fame.
As you enter the village you will reach a junction where the sign post indicates the way to Baños de Busot. A few moments later you will see the beautiful buildings of the Balneario (spa), now in a very delapidated condition.
Follow the rough track around the balneario and it will bring you into the village where there are a number of pavement cafes and bars. On the first Sunday of every month a there is an antique and craft fair held in the main street near the parish church. Walk past the church and you will discover a Moorish watch tower. Otherwise the village is typically Spanish and very sleepy. Properties for sale in Aguas de Busot |
